Maiden

A maiden over is one in which no runs that can be used against the bowler are scored. Even if byes or leg-byes are made, the over still counts as a maiden because the bowler cannot be penalised for them.

Third umpire

There are three on-field umpires in cricket, plus one off-field official known as the Third umpire or TV umpire. Any inquiries from the two on-field umpires are decided by this umpire in the end. The Third Umpire uses television displays to make decisions.

Fielding

Fielding is the process of catching the ball that a batsman has hit with a player. By gathering the ball and dismissing the batsman by either catching the ball or having him run out, the fielder must prevent the batsman from scoring runs.

Wicket maiden

The name "wicket maiden" is used in cricket when not only does a wicket fall in a bowler's over but no runs are scored by the batters during that over, so the over is referred to as a "wicket maiden".

Extra

The word "Extra" in cricket refers to a run that is not the result of a batter or the ball being struck. This run is credited to the batting team rather than being scored or given to a specific batsman.

Death Overs

Death overs, also referred to as slog overs, are the last few overs of a limited match. In order to score more runs and raise their total, the batting side would frequently bat aggressively. This happens in the final five to ten overs of a team's inning during a game.

Return fold

The bowling crease and popping crease are parallel to the return crease. It is 1.32 metres (4 feet 4 inches) from the imaginary line connecting the centres of the two main stumps and parallel to it.

Overthrow

When a fielder throws the ball back towards the wicket and it is not caught by the person guarding the wicket, it is referred to as an overthrow. It may also occur if the fielder fails in his attempt to run out the batsman by throwing the ball towards the stumps.

Knuckle Ball

A quick bowler will use the knuckleball delivery technique when playing cricket. The slower ball deliveries category includes this kind of delivery. This method is employed to trick a batter into playing the ball ahead.
